Rep. John Damoose, R-Harbor Springs; audio on House passage of civil violation legislation
RELEASE|April 15, 2021

Rep. Damoose talks about House passage Thursday of his HB 4149, which would reclassify the penalties for failing to attach a name and address to a fishing tip-up and fishing with more than the authorized number of fishing lines from misdemeanors to civil infractions. Penalties currently include fines of up to $500 and 90 days in jail. The Damoose bill, part of a larger package, would cap penalties at a $150 fine with no time in jail.
